It’s been nearly two years since Elon Musk took over Twitter and renamed it X and it’s about as long since we last posted.
We were just too busy doing our work, delivering bespoke media and presentation skills training, to engage on an increasingly toxic platform.
It only took a month for Elon Musk to announce a general amnesty for previously banned accounts, accounts that had been excluded for spreading misinformation, disinformation, and far worse.
We did nothing. We remained on the platform as it grew in strength, influence, and power. It became shamelessly cruel, advocating violence and hate.
We did nothing. We stayed on X because that’s where everyone is.
A year later, Elon Musk allowed the accounts of Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist currently under investigation for human trafficking and rape, and the far-right extremist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson, to have their accounts reinstated.
As moderation rules were removed and those tasked with enforcing them let go, X continued to transform into the toxic monster it is today.
We could continue to do nothing, but we are all free to leave.
We are exercising our freedom today. Leaving X feels so good. Join us.
Don’t follow us on X, formerly Twitter. We won’t be there. Follow us on LinkedIn.
