Course Details

One of the biggest fears of on-call executives and managers is that the media will call in the early hours of the morning or at weekends, in response to a major incident, when they are effectively on their own.

This course will empower them with the skills they need to manage media requests and forms part of their major incident, critical incident, and business continuity response training or the emergency preparedness, resilience and response (EPRR process).

What to expect

Participants will learn how to respond in a timely and appropriate way while avoiding reputational risk. We will focus on managing the media. We will cover the key elements from managing the media and triaging media enquiries, to the importance of facts and delivering clear, accurate messages.

Participants will learn how to handle incoming media requests during a crisis or serious issue. We discuss the importance of well-timed responses, maintaining an accurate information flow, and activating escalation pathways to the relevant executives or subject-matter experts as required.

This course will be tailored to your organisation. We can take a maximum of six participants per course.

The course will help embed your Emergency Planning procedures and protocols learnt in other parts of their training. It will be tailored to you, your EPRR process, and the types of emergency or major incident you might expect.
