Achieving PR "Holy Grail" - Media Coverage

(CC) licensed:realburiedtreasure

Your quest to achieve media coverage

Some would say Media Relations is the "Holy Grail" of PR.

The bottom line is that editorial is free and usually credible, while advertising, leafleting, newsletters and roadshows are very expensive.

All the research shows that your target audience gets its information from newspapers, radio and TV. The media are still a credible source of information, especially the BBC — and we all know that you can't buy advertising on the BBC - so it is a unique place to pitch your message.

This is a one day training course in how to get into the media with successful PR campaigns, or one-off projects / stories.

We will show you:

  • How to construct a newsworthy story from your corporate message.
  • How to use both "news" and "features".
  • How to pitch an idea to a journalist.
  • How to go from A to Z in Media Relations:
  • From identifying a possible story.
  • Writing a newsworthy press release.
  • Pitching it to the media.
  • Selling in your story.
  • Five ways to double your chances and achieve positive media coverage.

Two examples we highlight are:

  • The use of case studies (handled sensitively) to get bigger, better coverage.
  • The use of photos to draw attention to your story.

We will show you examples of successful campaigns which achieved amazing media coverage from relatively mundane source material.

We will help you develop at least one potential story into a successful Media Relations campaign.
